jordan is 8

Wow, I can't believe my second child is 8 and ready to be baptized!

Jordan had a fun birthday. I decided not to have the friends party on the same day as the family party so we had the friends party the day after. Jordan wanted a rocket them party. The children made spaceships using cardboard cake rounds, plastic bowls and the lids from Slurpees. They decorated their ships with stickers. Then we played Moon Rock Relay. I had a bunch of balls that were "moon rocks". The children divided into teams and had a pile of the moon rocks in front of them. They used tongs ("robot arms") to carry the moon rocks to a bowl at the other end of the yard. It was a fun relay race. Then we came back inside for presents, cake and ice cream. I made a rocket cake using a Wilton football pan and an idea I found on the Wilton website. It turned out pretty cute although if I do that again I will use different colors so the details show up better.

For the family party, Jordan chose what we had for dinner (grilled steaks, homemade mac and cheese, fruit plate and veggie plate). Then we opened his presents (2 Lego sets, scriptures and a football). Then off he went to his first Cub Scout meeting.

He is very excited to be 8 and to get baptized. His baptism date is set for Saturday, May 2nd.
