where is spring?

Well, looks like winter isn't quite ready to give up yet! Yesterday (3/9) snow fell most of the afternoon and evening. We have several inches of snow in the yard and it looks like winter again.

Alex turned 5 months old last Thursday. I haven't taken his 5 month picture yet because he's been sick the last few days. He was running a fever over the weekend. On Sunday I took him to IHC KidsCare. The doctor there said he didn't have an ear infection and his lungs were clear so he said to wait another 24 hours and if he still had a fever to take him to the pediatrician. Well, Monday morning came and the fever was still there, so off to the kids clinic we went. My regular pediatrician was out of town but we saw one of the other peds, who saw Alex way back when he was first born and was jaundiced. She checked him over and said no ear infection and lungs clear. However his tonsils were red and swollen, so she did a strep test. That came back negative so she said that the best thing to do was let the fever run its course. Just let him rest and keep him hydrated (you know a baby is getting dehydrated when the "soft spot" on top of the head is sunken, baby isn't drooling and doesn't have wet diapers). By yesterday afternoon the fever had broken and this morning he is back to his happy self. I'll get pictures today!

Alex is laughing and babbling a lot. He smiles a lot! I have yet to get a picture of him smiling because he always gets this puzzled look on his face when he sees the funny black box in front of Mommy's face. He *can* roll over when he wants to but is happy to just be on his back or tummy. He is sitting in the high chair at mealtimes. He still enjoys the swing. We're ready to put away the bouncer since he's a little too big for it now! His sleep schedule was messed up a bit with the illness so this week we'll work on getting him back on so he can sleep through the night again.

Christie and Jordan made their AR goals for the past term and got to go to the AR party. They had a disco theme and so for a few days afterward Jordan was doing the "John Travolta move" of swinging the hips and pointing his finger up and down. Both kids are very excited for spring and keep begging us to get the bikes and scooters out of storage. I think the recent snow has dampened that enthusiasm for a bit. They both will have friends birthday parties this year and are excitedly planning for it. I had to put a limit of 10 friends because Jordan kept wanting to add to his list. He wants a space theme party. Christie wants a High School Musical theme party. Steven hasn't decided what theme he wants for his party. Har har har.

Nothing really new with me. I am still teaching the Deaf Valiant class on the first and fourth Sundays, still only mentoring one family, still working on various house projects. Same with Steven.

I can hardly believe it's almost General Conference time again. I'm not signing the songs this time. Hope to do that next fall when Alex is 1. We have the spring birthdays coming up, and Jordan's baptism on May 2nd. With Jordan turning 8, we'll add Scouting activities to our lives.

Wow, it'll be summer before we know it!
