Christmas activities advent

For awhile now, I've been hearing about a website called Pinterest (pinterest.com). I didn't pay much attention to it for awhile because I thought I didn't need another time waster. Then one day I was curious so I took a look, following links from members on another website I frequent. It's basically an online pin board where you can pin pictures and links of things you want to be able to find again. There's all sorts of categories from home decor to hairstyles to celebrities to you-name-it. It looked interesting so I got myself an account (http://pinterest.com/maswain/).

One idea I saw for Christmas was this one (http://pinterest.com/pin/11681280253059682/). It's an activities advent calendar. I took this idea (see link: http://pinterest.com/pin/11681280253059679/) for the board and used the activities as inspiration to create my own activities advent calendar. Well, life being what it is, I got the cards and envelopes made, and that's as far as I have gotten. However, I have decided this year to be nice to myself and not stress about things. I typed all the activities in a calendar to spread them out a bit and also so I would know what we were doing when. Some things had a definite date such as the ward Christmas party, the First Presidency Christmas Devotional, extended family events, etc. Some activities were best suited to weekends when we'd have more time to do them, such as the gingerbread house party. I also wanted to mix up the simple activities with the more involved ones so we weren't doing all the "big" stuff and then petering out to more simple ones.

The next post will talk about what we did the first few days.

Hi Merilee! I'm so glad you commented on my blog so I'd know about your cute blog. I didn't know you were a blogger (pinterest too, cool)! I just spent a little time on your blog and loved reading about you and your family. You're a darling mom...it just tickles me to see you as a beautiful grown up! I have such good memories of you as one of my Young Women. Your baby is precious and also your whole family. Best to you, Debbie Raymond
