projects

My big goals for January were to finish as many sewing projects as I could; to finish the Alaska scrapbook; and to get the files cleaned out and organized in preparation for doing taxes.

My sewing machine got quite a workout! I finished a crib skirt for the crib; a nightgown for C; a pair of pajamas for J; and a set of table runners in a cute snowflake pattern. I cut out and sewed together the top pieces for another set of table runners in cute spring colors. I also cut out squares of leftover fabric to make fabric blocks for A. I cleared out odds and ends pieces of fabric that were too small or oddly shaped to do anything with.

I got a lot of the Alaska scrapbook done. I'm not worrying too much about making it super cute but I do want it to look good. I bought a separate book for it and I need to get more page protectors. I hope to get it done by the end of this week.

I didn't have much motivation to work on the files. Part of that, I think, is because I've got several years stuffed in there and the idea of going through it all is daunting at times. Just before the New Year, I was going through some of the papers that needed to be filed and there were several printed confirmation pages from bills paid. I started to rethink how I keep track of paid bills and it occurred to me that I could just set up a tracking form in Excel and be sure to include the confirmation numbers and then I wouldn't even need to print confirmation pages. So far it's working pretty well.

So for February, my goals are to get the Alaska scrapbook done (hope by the end of the first week); update the portrait scrapbook; complete at least three more sewing projects; and get the filing done.
