Tonight while we were in the process of getting things ready for a new school week, I discovered that one of my children was going to turn in a practice time card that wasn't accurate. I asked my child about it and at first this child tried to deny that there was anything wrong but further probing resulted in a reaction that I know is typical of this child when caught in wrongdoing. It took some time to get Child (I am not naming names or using pronouns to protect the guilty) calmed down enough to have a rational discussion but we got to the bottom of the matter. The end result was a life lesson for Child about the importance of being truthful (on more than one level) and a reminder to me that I need to be a little more diligent in checking on my children's schoolwork and other things going on in their lives in order to be up to date on what's happening with them.
I know that Steven and I were guided by the Spirit as to what to say and how to say it because we were able to deal with the matter without either of us getting mad and Child was able to learn an important lesson.

Ahh, life is the best teacher. It is just a matter of us recognizing the opportunity!
