Wow, it's been a month since I last posted. Our days have been busy but we're not doing all that much that's different from day to day.
[ 4th of July weekend]
We had a BBQ/swim party with some ward members then watched the Sandy city fireworks. Had a good time. Next day (Saturday) we had a birthday party for Steven's father Ken. Our family and Steven's sister Bonnie's family were there. We swam in the pool and BBQed again.b
[ baby ]
I had my July appointment on the 16th and everything's looking good. I am *finally* gaining weight. 5 lbs since the last appointment! My doctor hasn't said anything about the weight gain or lack of it so there's no problem with that. I also had the gestational diabetes test and that came back normal. I do have to start taking iron supplements as I'm a little anemic. Baby is bouncing all over the place, which is fun to feel, though sometimes it's hard to sleep! But it will be over soon so I'm enjoying it while I can. We're still discussing names--have a few we like but want to have several to choose from. If it's a boy, his middle name will be Douglas. If it's girl, we'll name her either Emma Sarah or Sarah Emma. Votes, anyone?
[ draper days ]
Since Mom and Dad Swain moved here permanently, we've gone to the Draper Days celebration on Saturday night. They have a great fireworks show. The celebration is in a park just a block or so away from their neighborhood so we went over to swim and BBQ before heading over for the fireworks. This year our niece Jocelyn with her family (husband Brian, children Madie and Camden) joined us--they live in Colorado but were in town for a family wedding on Brian's side.
[ happy birthday, katy ]
We enjoyed Katy's birthday party at Kangaroo Zoo. It was great to see the other family members.
[ pioneer day ]
Very low key. We didn't do much other than have a BBQ and light our sparklers (which I bought for 4th of July and never got around to using). The last few holidays we'd been doing stuff with others and Steven wanted a day at home. Turned out to be a good thing because he had to work on Saturday the 26th to help his supervisor complete a project that was due on Monday the 28th (and he got the project on Wednesday the 23rd in the afternoon).
[ church ]
I'm still teaching the Deaf Valiant class. Steven is still teaching the High Priest group on 2nd/3rd Sundays. I am in charge of Activity Day for our ward--we only do it once a month so it's not a major deal. I still sub for sacrament meeting music when needed. Christie got a new Primary teacher yesterday.
[ miscellaneous tidbits ]
Hmm, what else is going on? We're trying to get our flower beds cleaned up. It's been so hot that I really don't like to be outside. We are going to tear out the stone walls on the front flower beds. The flower bed in front of the house between the front door and the garage will be rebuilt (with what, we haven't decided yet. Retaining wall stones? A cement wall and then have a stone veneer put on? Something else?). Then the flower beds on the other side of the front door (north side) and along the north fence we'll expand to create a better curve for mowing and also to catch the water that drips from the living room overhang. In the spring we get a nice little ditch in the grass from the water dripping. Still need to finish the kitchen ceiling and we have a couple other projects we want to do.
Love you all.

One vote for "Emma Sarah" from me. And "Douglas" as a middle name? Well, that's just downright neighborly. :)
